PS: I find PS's curves a bit tricky, and usually work with selective colour correction for all around use. Got very used to it. Funny thing is that I recently began designing with Apo 7x, and found myself quite comfortable with curves. Results weren't the desired ones, but that depends on what you are trying to create. Should get back to PS's curves and give them another try.
Curves can give some very good or if you go a little too far, some terrible results. But they are good for tweaking the highlights and shadows together
You are right about the curves. Since I work with real world images, had some headaches with them. But for artistic purposes, should really try what they can do on postwork editing.
