The new group :iconmandelbulb3dteasers: Set a challenge to use just Jcube3 & ABoxVaryScale2 formulas to make a fractal/image. I have already submitted my image called Alleyways at [link] But this was another one I came up with. I have tweeked the colouring slightly in PS ie saturation etc.

Please view LARGE size :D

Thanks for the comment. MDB is a great programme and comes out with some great images, even for a novice like me who has no real understanding of the maths behing the formulas :D

same here... I can never understand these weird people who spend 2 or 3 hundred thousand dollars on a McMasion crammed in net to all the other idiots in their McMasions... if I had 2 hundred thou to spend I'd buy a bunch of land and live in a broken down shack!

Amazing, who would have thought that a mathematical formula - that I struggled so much with at school - could create such wonderful art... I suppose that true mathematicians view all the universe as one huge formula or just another fractal :D

thanks a lot :)

You did maths like this!!! I love numbers but I couldn't imagine trying to get my head round this stuff :D

They say that everything can be turned into maths, so I reckon the universe must just be large formula

so, how do you understand so well how to create this stuff if you don't understand the concepts, I tend to look at the numbers and see mush that's the point :)

I don't have a clue about the concepts or the maths underlying the formulas. I just put some formulas in MDB, see if they work together and if they do then I start tweeking the settings using the navigator.

A fair bit of time I just get rubbish, but then there are the times when I get something like this :D

So how long does it take usually?

Varies, this one was one of about 35 small images I did for the Mandelbulb 3D Teaser over a couple of days. I've only rendered about 5 large size including my submission and this one.

I've been messing with MDB today as off work for a couple of weeks and I have got 5 or 6 images to render large size now. I've just uploaded [link] this, which is one of todays finds. :D

I mess with MDB on my laptop in small size and then render on my 6 core desktop. The new one today took 7 hours to render. Sometimes I'll find an image in an evenings messings and then render overnight.

The Apophysis pong with :iconfelifee: that has been going for about six months are a lot quicker. I usually find an image in 10-30 minutes and then render within 20 minutes

That's excellent but 7 hours rendering... that's what put me off 3D modelling lol :faint:

That was at 3000x2000px and the reflections took about 4 hours of that time. I'd hate to think how long it would take without the 6 core PC.
